About Me

Hello there,

My name is Iris Wink and my company iWink Consulting (Pty) Ltd, specialises in the field of Traffic and Transport Engineering as well as Road Safety Auditing.

I am a Professional Engineer registered with ECSA (20110156) since 2011 and started my career around 2000 at the German Railroad Company (DB – Die Bahn) and the Technical Universities of Hannover and Berlin.

After finishing my Master of Science degree in Civil Engineering in Germany in 2003, I moved to South Africa and have worked since for large consultancies, such as Africon (Pty) Ltd. (now Aurecon), ARUP (Pty) Ltd and JG Afrika (Pty) Ltd, where I was Discipline Head for Traffic and Transportation Engineering.

I have vast experience in small to large scale projects for the private and public sectors.

My passions lie with the Renewable Energies as well as Road Safety and I am a certified Road Safety Auditor in South Africa as well as a registered Global Road Safety Audit Team Leader.

Services

1 Traffic Impact Studies.jpg

Traffic Impact Studies

Traffic Impact Studies (Assessments and Statements) are required as part of an application for new developments (i.e., residential, commercial, industrial) to assess any impact such development may have on the external road network. This includes for example the investigation of Public Transport and Non-motorised Transport needs as well as Parking requirements. The Traffic Impact Studies conducted for a client will follow applicable guidelines taking client requests to a solution.

Renewable Energy – Traffic / Transport Assistance

Transport Impact Studies

One of the Specialist reports required for the EIA or Basic Assessment process of a Renewable Energy project (i.e., wind energy, solar energy, csp, green hydrogen, waste to energy) is a Transport Impact Study, which investigates for example feasible routes from the port of entry to the site, any potential impacts on routes and communities, accessibility to the site.

Road Safety Assessments and Auditing

Due to being registered nationally as Road Safety Auditor with South African Road Federation (SARF) and internationally as Road Safety Audit Team Leader with the International Road Federation (IRF), I am in a position to come on board for any Road Safety projects as an experienced independent Assessor/Auditor/Advisor.

Site Development Planning

Many times a Traffic Engineer is required to assist the development project team to establish a feasible Site Development Plan (SDP). Tasks would include covering any traffic engineering aspects, such as internal roads, access locations and layouts, pedestrian accommodation, Public Transport facilities and site safety aspects.
4 Transport Planning - Option B.jpg

Transport Planning

Further aspects of Transport Planning are Non-motorised Transport and Public Transport services, requiring input at planning stage when it comes to routing and facilities.
